Ava DuVernay is a Californian born in Long Beach on 24 August 1972. DuVernay began to develop her artistic and creative talents when she was a young girl due to her aunt Denise. She worked as an evening nurse in order to give her aunt to have the time she needed during the day to indulge in the passion of literature, art, as well as theatre. DuVernay began producing television news when she was just a student. DuVernay began her career as an intern with CBS News during the O.J. Simpson Trial. DuVernay recalls being tasked to sit at the house of one of the members of the jury and examine their junk. After being disappointed in journalistic work by the assignments she was handed and deciding to go after an interest in public relations. DuVernay started her first job as a publicity specialist in a small production studio right after she graduated from school. The DuVernay Agency is her first public relations agency. Her agency launched numerous promotions and lifestyle channels that include Urban Beauty Collective and Urban Eye.
